CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - The Rhode Island Department of Corrections has slated to close one of its prisons by the end of this weekend in attempts to save millions of dollars.
On Saturday, the last of the inmates at the Donald Price Medium Security Prison at the ACI in Cranston were moved to the Moran Medium Security Facility.
The Price prison was a 324 bed facility and the inmates formerly serving time there will join more than 1,000 at the Moran prison.
The General Assembly had ordered the prison to close, and had hoped by doing so it would save the state some $6-million, but have since warned they probably won't save the money.
