CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - The Rhode Island National Guard is holding a departure ceremony for troops headed to Kuwait Friday.
Major General Robert T. Bray, Adjutant General, announced Thursday that 280 members of the 103rd Field Artillery Battalion will be deploying to Kuwait for a year-long deployment.
The ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. in the Army Aviation Support Facility Hanger 2 on Quonset Air Guard Base.
The troops will be performing as security forces and as a command cell.
In a press release, Maj. Bray said: "The 103d is an outstanding organization with a proud and distinguished history... They are well trained, well equipped, and ready to accomplish their mission in Kuwait."
