Fire tears through Cranston home

Red Cross assisting several family members

Cranston, RI (WPRI) - An early morning fire displaces several people from their Cranston home.

The fire started just after 4:30 a.m. inside an occupied home on Potter Street, but everyone inside was able to make it out safely.

Crews were on scene for five hours able the flames. Firefighters from Providence and Warwick also assisted.

The Red Cross is now assisting four adults and three children who lived in the home.

One firefighter was treated for a hand injury.

Crews also safely rescued a pet python the family had in the basement.

Officials are still investigating a cause of the fire.
