CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - Friends of a woman who was the victim of a brutal murder earlier this year in Johnston held a fundraiser for her children Sunday.

Stacie Dorego was found dead inside her home last month and the father of her two children - Donald Greenslit - has been charged with her murder.

Sunday, people gathered at Christopher's Deli on Park Avenue in Cranston to raise money for the "Jake and Lilly Fund," which will provide the two children with clothes and other items they currently lack.

The two women who organized the event say they just want the two children to have a fresh start after the tragedy.
