CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- Inmates in one building at the Adult Correctional Institute are feeling the heat, as the air conditioning has been out for the past few days.
According to an ACI spokesperson, the air conditioning has been faulty at the Gloria McDonald Women's Medium Security and Awaiting Trial Facility.
Last night was the first night the system was down all night, and the Department of Corrections has a vendor working to fix the problem.
The spokesperson says conditions are uncomfortable but not dangerous, since fans are in use. The building is designed so that windows can't be opened.
So far, two inmates have been looked at by medical personnel for heat-related issues, but were not in need of any outside medical attention.
