WASHINGTON (WPRI) - Congressman Patrick Kennedy, D-R.I., chose not to run for reelection so he can take a break from the family business, reports the Washington Post.
The newspaper reports that Kennedy is set to transfer about $500,000 in campaign funds to an interest-bearing account, which he could tap into if he decides to run for the Senate at a later date.
Kennedy announced his decision not to run for reelection last month. The Post reports he plans to advocate for mental health and addiction issues from his home in Portsmouth, but won't make any career moves until he leaves Congress.
