WORCESTER, Mass. (WPRI) - The Providence Bruins are going to the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time in four years. They beat the Worcester Sharks 5-1 at the DCU Center Wednesday night to win the Atlantic Division.
The P-Bruins took a 1-0 nothing lead in the first quarter on a goal from Right Forward Brad Marchand. Rookie Jamie Arniel followed five minutes later with his first professional goal to bring the score to 2-0.
Kirk McDonald, Jordan Knackstedt and Martin St. Pierre scored three more goals for the P-Bruins in the second period. Worcester managed to score one goal in the third period, but the P-Bruins went on to win it.
The P-Bruins will face the Hershey Bears in the Eastern Conference Finals in a best-of seven series. Game one is Saturday, May 16th in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
