NEWPORT, R.I. (WPRI) - A bicyclist struck by a car while riding on Memorial Boulevard Tuesday has died.
Elliot Kaminitz, 65, from Middletown suffered severe head trauma and was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he later died.
Kaminitz was a retired dentist, who later became a Newport tour guide.
Friends, like Michael Mendell, remembered him Thursday.
"He was a wonderful person," Mendell said, "In face, I look at it, he is a wonderful person, and he always will be. And I miss him, I miss him terribly."
Police say Kaminitz was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The driver has not been cited in the crash.
