WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) -- A two-car collision Saturday night in Westerly claimed the life of a local man.

Westerly Police tell Eyewitness News that officers responded to the area of 85 Old Hopkinton Road for a serious wreck.

A 2003 Ford pickup truck and a 2008 Subaru had collided head-on.  The driver of the Rod, 43 year-old Jon W. Alberghini of Westerly, was pronounced dead at Westerly Hospital.  The driver of the Subaru, 74 year-old Carolyn E. Bernasconi of Ashaway, was extracted from the car and flown by medical helicopter to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, where she is being treated for serious injuries.

Police continue to investigate and have not yet determined what caused the crash.
