SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - Two people were injured, one critically, after the car they were riding in crashed into a tree early Wednesday. It happened on Torrey Road in the Middlebridge section of South Kingstown just after midnight.
There were three passengers in the car at the time of the accident.
Police said one person was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with life threatening injuries. And another person was also taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.
The third passenger was treated and released at South County Hospital.
Crews from Narragansett, URI and Kingston responded to the emergency call.
No other car was involved. Police say the investigation is on going.
