SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - The Special Olympics Rhode Island State Summer Games kicks off Friday, June 1.
The three day event begins with opening ceremonies Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Rhode Island's Kingston campus.
Nearly 1,500 athletes, 500 coaches, 1,000 volunteers and 4,000 family members are expected to participate.
The State Summer Games features competition in Athletics, Aquatics, Bowling, Cycling, MATP, Powerlifting and Unified Soccer.
