South County hit hardest by snow

NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (WPRI) -- When wintery weather hits it's usually in the northern part of Rhode Island that ends up with the most snow, but that wasn't the case this time around.

Many Rhode Islanders woke up to find snow blanketing their neighborhoods, but this time residents in more southern towns like Narragansett got hit the hardest.

Before most of South County woke up on Tuesday, snow plow driver Jay Chimside's had already begun on Route 108 in Narragansett.

Jay knew with a few inches dropping on the roads that it was going to be a tricky morning for drivers.

"Car accidents. A loaf of bread, a gallon of milk, it's not worth it. Just stay home let us do our jobs and have a great life," said Jay.

Some drivers though were banking on the plow drivers help.

"Snow is obviously beautiful to look at, but I'm just hoping the roads are nice and clear. I haven't been on the roads yet and I wasn't on the roads last night," said Salve Regina student Chelsea McWIllie.
