RICHMOND, R.I. (WPRI) - The State Fire Marshal's office is investigating a fire that destroyed a Richmond barn early Saturday morning.

Crews were called to 89 Carolina Nooseneck Road around midnight to battle the flames. When they arrived, the barn was completely engulfed.

No animals were inside the barn, but there was bails of hay that helped spread the flames.

Fire fighters from several nearby communities were called in to help.

Crews remained on scene until 5:30 a.m.

A cause of the fire is still under investigation. No one was hurt.
