Police make slew of arrests at county fair

13 adults, three juveniles apprehended

RICHMOND, R.I. (WPRI) -- Richmond police kept themselves busy at this year's Washington County Fair, and it had nothing to do with carnival games.

Officers made 16 arrests during the fair, which ran between Wednesday, August 15 and Sunday, August 19.

Police were stationed at the fair to provide security, direct traffic, and enforce the rules, which included a strict policy of no alcoholic beverages or beverage coolers on the premises.

Thirteen adults and three juveniles were apprehended during the fair, none of which were residents of the host town of Richmond:

  • David Andrews, 19, of Coventry, was arrested Wednesday for possession of marijuana (first offense)
  • Jacob Griffiths, 24, of Mosoup, CT, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of public drinking
  • Emily Weymouth, 28, of Moosup, CT, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of public drinking
  • Richard E. Huling, 23, of Honaker, VA, was arrested Wednesday on an outstanding bench warrant for driving on a suspended license
  • A 17-year-old juvenile was arrested Wednesday for possession of marijuana (first offense)
  • Cherlyn Guenev, 46, of West Warwick, was arrested Thursday on a charge of larceny under $500
  • Kyle M. Nademlynsky, 18, was arrested Thursday for possession of marijuana (first offense) and possession of alcohol by an underage person
  • Mikel Csizmesia, 22, of Narragansett, was arrested Thursday for possession of a controlled substance (oxycodone)
  • Jenneya Smith, 19, of Wakefield, was arrested Thursday on an outstanding bench warrant in connection with a failure to appear for payment review
  • Catherine R. Cabral, 19, of Jamestown, was arrested Thursday on a charge of possession of alcohol by an underage person
  • Kelsey Pagliuca, 19, of North Kingstown, was arrested Thursday for possession of alcohol by an underage person and public drinking
  • Jonathan C. LaPlume, 20, of Exeter, was arrested Thursday in connection with an outstanding warrant
  • John Hill, 44, of South Kingstown, was arrested Friday on a charge of public drinking
  • Michael Harris, 24, of Westerly, was arrested for disorderly conduct and vandalism/malicious damage
  • A 13-year-old male from South Kingstown was arrested Sunday for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest
  • A 16-year-old male from Pawtucket was arrested on charges of assault on a uniformed police officer and resisting arrest

Police also said that on a few occasions Sunday night, officers were forced to break up fights between several groups of youths on the fairgrounds.
