CRANSTON, R.I. (AP) -- The Rhode Island National Guard is again attracting teams from around the world for its annual parachute training competition.

The event known as Leapfest begins Friday morning at the University of Rhode Island and nearby areas.

Twenty teams of international paratroopers from as far as Morocco and South Africa will compete alongside more than 40 teams from the U.S. military.

The Guard says Leapfest is the oldest and largest continuously conducted state-line parachute competition in the world.

The event, which runs through Saturday, is now in its 30th year.
