NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) -- A well-known sports publication predicts a Rhode Island native will secure the gold in one of her events in London.

Sports Illustrated released its predictions for the 2012 Summer Olympics Friday, and the magazine believes North Kingstown native Elizabeth Beisel will take home the gold in the 400-meter individual medley.

Beisel will also be competing in the 200-meter backstroke, though SI's hopes for her were not as high in that event.

Family and friends are garnering support for Beisel by designing and selling t-shirts so that her family can afford to cheer her on in London. Half the proceeds from the shirts will be donated to a local food pantry.
