NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - The suspect in a holdup of a restaurant employee back in January has pleaded guilty to robbery charges.
Frederick Burdick, 25, of Warwick, faces up to 20 years in federal prison for the robbery back on January 10.
Prosecutors and North Kingstown Police said Burdick was wearing dark clothing and a ski mask when he pointed a gun at the restaurant employee trying to make a bank deposit at a Bank of America. He struck the driver several times, but didn't get the cash. In the end, he did seize the deposit, and then took the victim's car keys and cell phone.
Fingerprints on the car pointed to Burdick.
Burdick is a career offender, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, who has at least two prior felony convictions.
He'll be sentenced Oct. 26, where he'll receive up to twenty years in prison, and a fine of up to $250,000.
