NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - A ceremonial groundbreaking was scheduled Thursday for the newest business at the Quonset Business Park in North Kingstown.
Wide World of Indoor Sports has begun construction on a new 76,000 square-foot facility that will offer indoor facilities for soccer, flag football, field hockey, lacrosse, softball, volleyball, wiffleball, and more.
The project marks the first parcel to be leased and developed under the Quonset Development Corporation's new "Site Readiness" program which streamlines the permitting process for new businesses.
The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management worked to make sure the project met environmental requirements.
According to the company's website , the new Wide World of Indoor Sports is scheduled to open in August and will employ more than 85 full- and part-time workers.
It will offer both youth and adult leagues, as well as youth classes, camps, tournaments, and birthday parties.
Wide World of Indoor Sports currently operates another complex on Pound Hill Road in North Smithfield .
