Local shipbuilder earns Navy contract

Connecticut-based company has facility in RI

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - A local shipbuilder has received yet another contract from the Navy.

Connecticut- based Electric Boat recently acquired a $4.6 billion contract from the United States Navy.

Under the contract, the company will design and develop a new kind of ballistic missle submarine. In addition, they will construct more attack subs.

Locally, the company also has a facility located at Quonset Point in North Kingstown.
