NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - Rhode Island is preparing to welcome home a champion from the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
North Kingstown native Elizabeth Beisel is scheduled to arrive home on Wednesday.
She'll return with a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley and bronze medal in the 200-meter backstroke.
Beisel is the only Rhode Islander to take home multiple medals at the same Olympic games.
A homecoming party is planned for the local hero at her alma mater, North Kingstown High School at 7 p.m. Wednesday night.
