(WPRI) - The singing DJ from Rhode Island belted it out on American Idol Wednesday night, hoping to get America's vote for one more week.
Erika Van Pelt from South Kingstown secured her spot in the top 24 last week, but will her recent performance singing Heart's "What About Love" advance her for one more week?
"I just want to be electric out there. Rock really hard and just show everybody what I'm made of," said Van Pelt in an interview that aired on Wednesday night's show.
Van Pelt felt the love from the judges. Randy Jackson said he picked up a strong "Adele vibe" from the 26-year-old.
"If this girl deejays half as good as she sings, she's dangerous," said Jackson.
While Jennifer Lopez said "You are one of our power voices. You're very comfortable up there and it's so nice to watch."
But Lopez also wants Van Pelt to let go a little bit more. She feels the South Kingstown native still might be holding back.
"I feel like you could have gone even further, knowing you," continued Lopez. "Next time, let loose on us, but you're amazing."
Overall, Steven Tyler was impressed with her first live performance.
"There's something magical about having a confidence like you had just now. It just breaths wings into a song. You just nailed it."
Friends of Van Pelt's watched her performance at a viewing party at one of her favorite spots in Rhode Island.
