CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) -- A Connecticut woman is set to face charges in connection with a hit-and-run crash that injured a local teen.
Police began looking for the guilty motorist after the 16-year-old was struck while walking in the breakdown lane near the intersection of Route 2 and Lauri Drive at about 9:15 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27. The victim was treated and released from South County Hospital for a concussion and numerous abrasions and contusions.
Charlestown police said that shortly after a call for assistance was broadcast, RI State Police troopers impounded a vehicle with a possible connection to the incident.
Further investigation led to an arrest warrant being issued for Adriana M. Wright, 42, of North Stonington, Conn.
Wright is slated to appear in court Thursday to be formally charged with reckless driving resulting in serious injury and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious injury, both of which are felonies. The RI Traffic Tribunal also intends to charge her with use of breakdown lane for travel, due care by drivers and a laned roadway violation.
She's scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, Feb. 5.
