SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) - Two top officials at the University of Rhode Island will leave their leadership positions next June, including former Rhode Island congressman, Robert Weygand.
He's the university's vice president for administration and finance.
Also stepping down, will be Peter Alfonso, URI's vice president for research and economic development.
Alfonso will stay on as a professor.
Weygand is also considering becoming a faculty member.
No reason was given for why they are stepping down.
URI will conduct a nationwide search to fill both vice president positions.
