WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) - National Grid is looking into what caused thousands of customers to lose power in Westerly Tuesday.
Shortly before noon, a check of the Real-Time Power Outage Map showed more than 9,000 customers had lost power.
National Grid said the Canal St. substation lost power for a brief time, causing customers to also lose power.
The power company said power had been restored by 12:05 pm. It does not know yet what caused the substation problem.
