Soldier killed in Afghanistan is buried

Sergeant Benjamin Sherman is laid to rest

NEW BEDFORD, MASS., (WPRI) - A paratrooper who is a native of New Bedford was laid to rest on Friday.

Sergeant Benjamin Sherman was buried in the morning at Manomet Cemetery.

Sherman died in early November in Afghanistan.

He jumped into a river to try and save a fellow comrade who was swept away by a current.

Sherman died the same way.

He is survived by a wife, who is expecting their first child early next year.
