ATTLEBORO, MASS. (WPRI)- An Attleboro neighborhood contaminated with toxic chemicals could be added to a government cleanup list.
The Environmental Protection Agency is proposing that the site be added to the Superfund list.
If approved, the area on North Avenue would be eligible for millions of cleanup dollars from the federal government.
The E.P.A. started tearing the area down in 2010 and found ground water full of chromium and lead.
Officials believe an old chrome plating company, Walton and Lonsbury, had pumped chemicals into the ground for thirty years.
