FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) -- Massachusetts State Police made ten drunk driving arrests this past weekend.
Officers say that this was the second weekend of a patrol surge on Routes 24 and 195.
Police say among the ten arrested for alcohol-related charges was an impaired driver going the wrong way in traffic on Route 195 in Fairhaven, a driver who struck a cruiser on Route 195 in Fall River, and a driver who hit another car on Route 24 and tried to leave the scene.
Patrol troopers say they also made nine non-alcohol related arrests and issued three criminal summons. Troopers also wrote 262 citations during the weekend.
Trucks were also under watch this weekend, and 47 truckers received tickets for speeding.
After the second weekend of the patrol surge, the totals for both weekends are 19 OUI arrests, 16 other arrests, 12 summons, and 484 motor vehicle citations.
State troopers will continue the patrol surge every weekend through the end of September.
