DIGHTON, Mass. (WPRI) -- A 17 year-old was flown to the hospital late Saturday following a serious car crash.

Police say the teen hit a telephone pole on Hart Street late Saturday night. He reported suffered a severe leg injury. Authorities tell Eyewitness News the victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by helicopter.

The accident brought down the utility pole and power lines, temporarily knocking out power in the area.

There's no word on the teen's condition, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
