TAUNTON, Mass. (WPRI) - Plans for a resort casino in Taunton will move one step closer to reality Monday when Governor Deval Patrick gives final approval to a tribal casino compact.

The governor is scheduled to sign the bill at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the State House.

The agreement with the Mashpee Wampanoag Indian Tribe promises the state 21.5 percent of all gambling revenue from the tribe's proposed Taunton casino.

The tribe hopes to build a $500 million casino complex at the junction of Routes 24 and 140.  The development would also include hotels, retail shops, and a water park.
