Police investigating after dog is shot

WESTPORT, MASS. (WPRI) - Police in Westport, Massachusetts are investigating after a stray pit bull was found seriously injured.

The dog, which is now recovering at Handsome Dan's Rescue in Cranston, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and a fractured leg.

Animal control brought him in on January 31st after getting several reports from residents about the stray.

Since then, he's undergone thousands of dollars in vet care and will require continued treatment.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact Westport Police.
