Plow drivers prepared for more snow

SOMERSET, Mass. (WPRI) -- After three weekends in a row, many southern New Englanders have had enough snow -- including some plow drivers.

"It's always getting tiring. We're sick off the snow at the start and through the rest of the season, but particularly storm after storm," Richard Silva told Eyewitness News.

Silva is the funeral director at homes in Somerset and Fall River. For the last two weeks, he's been clearing snow from several parking lots. With another storm on the way, he's ready to go again.

Silva, who plowed for 48 straight hours during the Blizzard of 1978, says there's much more to plowing than putting a blade on a truck. He stressed the need for a counter weight in the truck's bed -- as well as a place to put all the snow.
