NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) -- A New Bedford man is facing multiple charges after police say he fired several bullets at a parked pickup truck while aiming for a different vehicle.

The gunfire broke out in the area of Tinkham and Church Streets in New Bedford around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police found seven shell casings from a .45 caliber firearm, and discovered a parked pickup truck riddled with bullet holes.

About three hours later, officers arrested 22-year-old Okee Rodriquez.  Police say he returned to the area carrying an unloaded .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun with the serial numbers obliterated.

Investigators believe Rodriquez was aiming for a different vehicle that was fleeing the area.

He is now facing various firearms charges as well as malicious destruction of property.
