NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) – A physically fit mother of three is not taking anything for granted after falling ill at the gym.
Lori Stalker said she started the day off like any other day and felt totally normal, until about 15 minutes into a class at Olympic Fitness she fell to the floor.
“That was all I felt, very very dizzy,” said Lori.
“She was doing a body bridge and her body was back, that’s when she stood up and said she felt lightheaded,” said Robb McCoy, Manager of Olympic Fitness.
Robb knew it was more than just fatigue and decided to immediately call 911.
Good thing he did, Lori had a ruptured brain aneurysm or a subarhactoid hemorrhage.
The otherwise healthy 41-year-old had been living with a life-threatening condition and didn’t know it. After emergency surgery at Rhode Island hospital to coil the aneurysem, Robb says Lori’s recovery is nothing short of remarkable.
"Recovery time can be months and she's already home from the hospital,” he said.
Research shows that about 40% of all rupture patients do not survive, while Lori was able to leave the hospital in just fifteen days.
