ROCHESTER, M.A. (WPRI) - A Massachusetts woman opens up about her time on the television show The X Factor.
Jennel Garcia of Rochester appeared on the Rhode Show on WPRI-12 Monday morning.
The 18-year-old was eliminated from the singing competition two weeks ago after making it to the top 11.
Even though her time on the hit Fox show may be over, she says she isn't ready to leave the limelight just yet.
"I never thought I could do that, so that makes me believe that anything can happen. It's just crazy, I'm just so blessed," said Jennel Garcia.
Garcia returned home Sunday to a surprise welcome home party with a hundred friends and family members.
"People asking for pictures and telling me how much I inspire them. It's amazing." said Garcia.
Garcia has also gained a national following with more than 5 million YouTube hits and 200,000 Twitter followers. She hopes her newfound fame serves as a springboard for the future.
"One day I want to be sitting at awards shows and seeing my name in lights again. So I don't want X Factor to be the highlight of my life," she said.
