HYANNIS, Mass. (WPRI) -- A half-dozen people are safe following a frightening mid-air accident.

A large bird crashed through the windshield of a small plane, which was flying from Hyannis to Nantucket Wednesday morning.

We've learned the co-pilot was scratched by broken glass. The pilot managed to turn the damaged plane around and land safely in Hyannis.

After changing clothes, the passengers boarded another plane for Nantucket.
