NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) -- Two people have been displaced following a house fire in New Bedford.
Firefighters were called to the scene on Bartlett Street around 3:20 a.m. Monday, where they found a two-story house engulfed in flames.
Officials tell Eyewitness News one person was home at the time, but he managed to escape unharmed and rushed next door for help.
We've also learned two dogs made it out safely as well.
The homeowner says he built the house in 1994 and has lived there ever since.
It took crews nearly 90 minutes to put the flames out. The home is now considered a total loss.
The fire is being investigated by the New Bedford police, fire department, and the state fire marshal.
