FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) - The City of Fall River is making a push to become the new home of the New England Revolution.

On Tuesday, Mayor Will Flanagan sent a letter to team owner Robert Kraft, asking him to consider Fall River as a potential location for a new stadium to host the Major League Soccer team.

The Revolution currently plays at Gillette Stadium, which is also home to the New England Patriots.  Kraft is reportedly looking to invest $125 million to build a separate 20,000 seat stadium for his soccer team.

In his letter, Mayor Flanagan promotes Fall River's strong soccer culture and large Portuguese population, as well as the city's proximity to many major highways.
