FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) - A Fall River pet store owner is outraged after a cruel burglar hit his business.
The suspect broke into Animal Instincts early Wednesday morning.
Owner Robert Schenk told Eyewitness News the suspect smashed in the front door and stole the store's computers.
But then, the suspect also went into the fish room and deliberately smashed a 180-gallon fish tank, killing hundreds of fish and coral.
"It makes me sick just to think about how many things were alive, I mean we basically just threw everything in the dumpster," he said. "He killed every single thing that was in this tank that was alive, and it will never get back to the way it was."
Schenck told Eyewitness News the store's surveillance cameras recorded the incident.
That video has been turned over to Fall River police.
