DARTMOUTH, MASS. (WPRI) -- Two men are under arrest after Dartmouth police officers caught them breaking into a Target Sunday morning.

Detective Kyle Costa tells Eyewitness News that police took a phone call from Target security around 2:30 a.m. reporting that they were remotely monitoring two men who were breaking into the store, wearing masks and carrying sacks.

Officers arriving at the scene found an open loading door and as backup arrived, they spotted the two suspects running from the store.  One was caught after a short foot chase and the other was tracked down in a nearby neighborhood by a police dog.

The two men arrested are identified as 21 year-old Cory Smith and 21 year-old Ontario Barnett.  Both men tell police they are from Westport but investigators have not been able to verify their addresses.  Both men are charged with felony breaking and entering and vandalism, while Smith will also be charged with possession of burglarious tools and giving officers a false name.
