Bail set for teen in school threat case

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) – Bail was set for a North Attleboro High School student accused of threatening to “shoot up” his high school.

17-year-old Patrick Skrabec was arrested Friday after police said he made threatening comments in math class.

The student was initially held without bail after last Friday’s arrest and faced the judge for a dangerousness hearing Thursday, where the judge set bail at $10,000.

Skrabec is facing a felony charge of making a threat causing the disruption of school.

In court, the student's attorney called witnesses who testified that Skrabec is a kind and loving kid who's never shown any violent tendencies. It was also revealed during the hearing that he has no access to guns or other weapons, and has no prior criminal history.

The judge set several conditions along with the bail, including that he be released into his parents' custody, he now has a court-imposed curfew, and he will have to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Skrabec has pleaded not guilty to the charge, and is due back in court in February.
