BOSTON, Mass. (WPRI) - Massachusetts State Police have arrested six more people suspected of drunk driving on Route 24.
There has been a recent increase in police patrols along the stretch of highway in Southeastern Massachusetts.
Over the last month, troopers have made 33 drunk driving arrests and have written 1,094 motor vehicle citations during the last four weeks of the Patrol Surge.
The increased police presence came in response to a recent spike in deadly and serious crashes along Route 24.
The weekend patrols will continue every weekend through the end of September.
