NORFOLK, Mass. (WPRI/CNN) - A local man and a woman accused of burglary are under arrest and police said they caught them thanks to a very brave teenager.

The girl was home sick from school by herself, when she heard people breaking into her Norfolk, Massachusetts home, she hid in the basement and called 911.

"I'm really scared. Someone's trying to break into my house," said the teenager as she desperately called 911 for help. "They're in my house."

Fortunately, police were on a detail down the street, so they were able to respond to her house quickly. An officer heard the call on his radio and drove two miles to the teen's home.

When the officer arrived to the teen's home, he blocked in a Cadillac parked in the driveway, and found the suspects located at the back of the house.

Police arrested Michael Couto of New Bedford and Chelsea Smith of Mashpee. In their SUV, police found pillowcases stuffed with jewelry from two other robberies Wednesday. Also in the back of the SUV, a TV and an X-Box.

Officials credit the 16-year-old girl who was home sick from school for halting a robbery and potentially unraveling other unsolved break-ins in the area.

"She's the hero, I think, we were just doing our job," said a Norfolf officer.

Police said Couto and Smith are facing multiple felony charges, including breaking and entering, larceny and malicious destruction.
