CAPE COD, Mass. (WPRI) – State Police are investigating a crash that left one person dead on Thursday morning.
Bourne fire officials confirm that a car slammed into an electric utility pole on Route 28 in Bourne, Massachusetts around 9:30 a.m.
The car, which has Rhode Island license plates, struck a pole with enough force to split it in two.
Nstar crews responded to the scene and had to shut off a power grid in the area so rescue crews could help the trapped victim.
Police say it is unclear what caused the crash, but wind gusts of over 50 miles per hour and heavy rains were passing through the area during the morning hours.
