No verdict in Cahill trial after 5 days

BOSTON (AP) -- Jurors in the corruption trial of former Massachusetts Treasurer Tim Cahill have ended deliberations for a fifth day without reaching a verdict.
Cahill and his former campaign manager, Scott Campbell, are accused of violating state ethics laws by scheming to use $1.5 million in state lottery advertisements to boost Cahill's 2010 independent campaign for governor.
Cahill testified that the ads were not for his campaign, but instead designed to defend the lottery against Republican attack ads.
Jurors submitted a question to the judge Monday, but lawyers on both sides would not disclose what the jury asked.
The jury has deliberated about 31 hours since Dec. 4. Deliberations are set to resume Tuesday morning.
