NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) -- Police are on the hunt for suspects after a bank was robbed inside of a New Bedford supermarket.

Officers tell us the Citizen's Bank branch inside of the Kings Highway Stop and Shop was robbed by a male suspect just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The man used a note to relay his intentions, and fled the store in a northerly direction with an unknown amount of money. Police say he most likely got into a waiting vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white male with a medium build, standing about 5'7" tall. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a white t-shirt with tan stripes, a baseball cap and reading glasses.

Anyone with information regarding the suspect is asked to contact Det. Michael Carrier with the New Bedford Police Department at (508) 991-6300 ex. 114.
