ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) - An overnight fire in Attleboro has killed one person.

Flames broke out around 12:45 a.m. Monday in a home on Woodstock Road.

Neighbors tell us the victim lived at the home with his mother, who was out of town when the fire broke out.

People in the neighborhood attempted to save the victim. One kicked in the front door of the home, but was turned back by fire. Another neighbor put a ladder up to a window, but the victim did not respond to his name being called.

The cause remains under investigation.
