RI cities and towns to hold flu clinics

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -- Rhode Island's cities and towns are holding free vaccination clinics, including for influenza, which is widespread across the state.

A clinic is scheduled for Providence on Saturday at the Juanita Sanchez Complex. Another is in Charlestown on Sunday at the senior center. Burrillville, Warwick, Lincoln and North Providence are holding clinics next week.

There is no cost for the vaccinations, which are also available for pneumonia and other diseases. Health insurance is not required, but those who have coverage should bring their insurance car

The flu is most dangerous to the very young and the elderly. Anyone six months or older can get a shot.

State Health Department Director Michael Fine says the state has seen increased flu activity this season.
