Gov. Chafee signs adoption legislation

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Gov. Lincoln Chafee has signed a landmark adoption bill.

The legislation allows adoptee to get copies of their original birth certificates.

Starting July 1st, 2012, adoptees 25-years-old or older can get a non-certified copy with their birth parents names on it.

Rhode Island is now the 7th state in the country with this kind of law in the books.
