The city of Providence is working to help residents get the recycling bins they need, in order to have their trashed removed from the curb.
A new city ordinance states that residents must have two recycling bins out on the street, one for plastic and another for paper, in order for theirĀ normal trash to now be taken away.
Many residents are now left with a mess in front of their property because they were unable to get a recycling bin, or theirs was stolen from their yard.
City officials are reminding residents if they do not have recycling bins they can use any plastic containers, as long as they are properly marked.
Recycling bins will be on sale on Saturday in the five locations listed below for five dollars each.
Sale Locations:
1. Joslin Recreation Center, 17 Hyat St.
2. Selim Rogers Recreation Center, 60 Camden Ave.
3. Vincent Brown Recreation Center, 438 Hope St.
4. West End Recreation Center, 109 Bucklin St.
5. Department of Recreation, 1 Recreation Way.
