PUTNAM, Conn. (WPRI) -- Two young girls were found dead and four people were injured after an overnight fire broke out right over the Rhode Island border.
Fire crews rushed to the home on Prospect Street around 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning, when they arrived they roof was engulfed in flames and collapsed onto the third floor.
According to our news partners at WTNH, The flames engulfing the roof caused it to collapse onto the third floor. The home, which was built in the 1800s, had five apartments in it. The two young girls were found dead on the third floor.
There was no immediate word on how the fire may have started and the state fire marshal is investigating.
